Ways To Encourage Your Child To Be More Active
Fun sports : Kids like to have fun, so they’re more likely to continue the activity if they are enjoying it. So, you can start by letting your child play a sport they like. If they enjoy that sport, they will continue to play it forever. With this, you can get them involved in many other sport activities.
Provide active toys : Every child likes to play with toys. So, you can provide them with toys or games which will help them to be physically active. You can give them balls, jumping rope, roller skates, bicycles, etc. These things will keep them physically fit.
Tell them your story: Children's have a tendency of following their parents in everything. So, tell them your stories, how you used to play games, soccer, basketball, jumping, running, etc, tell them how much fun it was and how it benefited them in the future. This will motivate them towards physical activities more.
Play with them while teaching them: While you teach them about the sports activities, play together with them. You will be able to help them learn a new sport or another physical activity this way. You can support them in this by going on a walk, hike or bike ride.
Set time for everything: You need to utilize your kids' free time. Limit their time for Television, computers, mobile phones and activities that will not help them with anything. Use the free time to indulge them into physical activities.
Fun competition : This is a great way to get your kid involved in physical activities. You can organize fun contests between you and your kid to engage them more in activities, such as see who can run faster, or do more push-ups or jumping jacks. This way they will find physical activities more fun.
Talent showcase : You can engage your child into any activity they like. For example - Dance, singing, art classes, any type of martial arts (karate, boxing). These activities will maintain your child’s physical health and at the same time they will be able to do what they like.
Events participation : Encourage your kid to participate in the school events as much as possible. Tell them to choose an event or activity which they might like, reward them for their efforts.
